Joshua Wallace
Help Josh Ride
Joshua is a kind, loving little trickster with a laugh that lights up a room. He was born with a rare condition called Optic Nerve Hypoplasia (ONH), which meant his optic nerves didn’t fully develop in utero. Because of ONH, Joshua was born completely blind and also experiences speech and cognitive impairments and is on the autism spectrum. Despite these challenges, Josh meets each day with courage and joy - and he surprises everyone with his strength.
Josh loves music. From country to rap, he finds a way to enjoy every style, and he loves sharing that joy with anyone who will listen. He also thrives during water activities, horseback riding, and time spent outside. In our very visual world, finding meaningful leisure activities can be hard for Josh - but adaptive equipment makes a life-changing difference.
The DMF will be helping Josh access ongoing Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, speech therapy, and equine (horse) therapy to support his development and quality of life. However, we still need the public’s help to get him an adaptive bike for home so he can safely ride whenever he wants. An adaptive bike would provide him with physical activity, independence, and more opportunities to laugh and play - things that matter for his health and happiness every day.
Please consider voting or donating to help Josh get this bike: https://www.greatbikegiveaway.com/joshuaw , you can also go to the donate page on our website and choose his name on the dropdown option. Every contribution - big or small - brings him one pedal closer to more freedom, joy, and meaningful activity.
